Pitching to investors comes down to 1 thing
Pitching to investors is about only 1 thing:
↓
Proving you can execute.
At pre-seed and seed, investors aren’t expecting a perfect business.
They know: – Things will change – Roadmaps will shift – Challenges will come up
What they are looking for is how well you’ve thought things through. How prepared you are. How confidently you can handle tough questions.
Because if you can’t answer them in a meeting, how will you handle real obstacles when building the business?
Here are some of the questions that separate those who are ready from those who aren’t:
- What’s your plan to land your first 1,000 users?
- What early customer insights have surprised you the most?
- What major challenges could block you from executing your roadmap?
- How do you justify your valuation? What went into that number?
- What potential risks should I, as an investor, be aware of?
- What’s your timeline for expanding revenue streams?
- Can you walk me through the experience of your first three customers?
- What does a successful exit look like, and when do you expect it to happen?
Now, take a step back.
If you were the investor sitting across the table, would your answers convince you?
Would they make you want to invest?
Fundraising isn’t about getting lucky with the right investor.
It’s about being so well-prepared that when the right investor comes along, they see the opportunity instantly.
So before your next meeting, ask yourself: Are you ready for these questions?
